04 Oct ENDERUN WINS 2017 NATIONAL SEARCH FOR SUSTAINABLE AND ECO-FRIENDLY SCHOOLS
Manila, Philippines – Enderun Colleges wins the 2017 Award for Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Schools out of the 48 public and private schools that entered the national finals. The award is organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB), in cooperation with the Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and other partners.
“We are deeply honoured by this recognition and inspired to do more,” said Edmond P. Maceda, Enderun Colleges’ Sustainability Director. “At the heart of sustainability is education, for it is our responsibility to prepare our students for the world they will inherit,” he added.
The National Search for Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Schools Award is the NCR’s leading sustainability prize for schools and colleges, recognizing educational institutions for their achievements in “going green” and galvanizing young people and the academic industry to embrace being environmental friendly.
A sustainable and eco-friendly school may be described as an environment-friendly school that has initiated and integrated in their instruction, research, extension and/or administration, programs that are environment-related. In recent years Enderun Colleges took major initiatives to transition to a more sustainable campus, from policies and practices which foster equity, diversity, and quality of life for students, staff, and the broader community through an annual Sustainability Summit.
In keeping with the interdisciplinary nature of sustainability, and the growing interest in the field, Enderun Colleges also offers a four-year degree program, B.S. Business Administration – Major in Sustainability Management. Applications to program are ongoing.
